Mining Accidents - BRAY Thomas

Name: BRAY Thomas
Age: 0
Date: 09/10/1897
Year: 1897
Occupation: Boy
Colliery: Gwennap United
County: Cronwall
Notes: Fell down a disused shaft at the Gwennap United Mines and sustained fatal injuries on the 9th October. He and three other boys as a lark, went exploring an old shaft and were climbing down a ladder below the level to which it has recently been used, when it broke, and Bray was precipitated to the bottom, a distance of about 20 fathoms. The boys were not employed in or about the mines and no work had been done there for some months past. It appears that in order to enter the shaft they removed some boards which were put across it as a fence.
